Meet the Therapist!
Hi! My name is Stacy McNeal. I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
I have a strong interest in helping clients work through periods of adjustment, such as the rapid shift into the role of parenthood.

I have extensive experience with individuals and families struggling with symptoms related to anxiety, depression, trauma, interpersonal conflict, and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. As a mom, I can connect personally and professionally to various struggles we face while trying to be authentic individuals with personal needs, valuable
partners, and reliable caregivers.

How Can I Help You?
You came to this site for a reason, and I’m glad you’re here. Something may feel off, and you may feel sad, depressed, irritable, panicky, having trouble sleeping, or out of control. You may have been encouraged to seek help from someone close to you. Either way, there’s nothing to be ashamed of for taking care of yourself, and that’s what you’re doing by exploring the option of therapy. Similar to preventative care, therapy supports your emotional health, like having checkups with your doctor for your physical health.

My goal in therapy is your goal. I want to know how you are taking on your struggles. I then work with you to identify those concerns more mindfully without letting them become overwhelming. I have training in somatic approaches and mindfulness, which recognizes the body’s cues and uses grounding techniques to regulate the nervous system. I also use Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Family Systems approaches in sessions. These techniques can complement each other and have been clinically effective in treating several disorders. Yet, therapy will work best once we get to know each other and decide on a treatment path together.

If you don’t think I’m the right therapist for you, please continue searching! Therapy works best when you have a good connection with your therapist.

My Philosophy on Mental Health:
Put simply-Life sucks sometimes, AND it can also be quite amazing. When we get stuck in the ‘suck,’ we often need support to find a way out, and I want to help with that. I do this by looking at your whole picture because it describes how to get to your ‘good’ and how to bounce back from the challenging moments we face when they arise.

More About Me…
I’m currently wrapping up my doctoral research on pain perception in childbirth. When not deep in research and writing, I spend weekends with my family, including my fantastic partner, four kids in elementary, middle, high school, and college, our two dogs and cats, and often one or both grandparents. We love making pizzas, having family movie nights (where I’m always first to fall asleep because, well, see above), and exploring the diverse landscape of California.

Fun Fact!
My hobby job is teaching yoga. I completed my yoga teacher training on a small island in Greece, where we studied anatomy, philosophy, and sequencing for 12 hours daily. It was one of my most profound experiences, and what I learned then still influences my therapeutic approaches today.
I hope to connect with you!
