Do you accept Tricare?
Yes, we are in network with Tricare West (currently managed by TriWest Healthcare Alliance). Tricare is the military health insurance program put in place to support active duty service members, reservists, retirees and their family members.
Using Tricare at Freedom Within Center
How do I schedule?
Tricare beneficiaries (who are not active duty) can simply call us to schedule an appointment (no authorization needed). We will then verify your benefits prior to your first visit and provide you information on your cost shares including any deductible (if applicable) and co-pay. Click here to book an appointment.
What if I’m active duty?
If you’re active duty, you’ll need to get an authorization from your Primary Care Manager (PCM), flight doctor, or Navy medical to have your sessions covered in full by Tricare.
Your PCM will typically authorize 12-24 sessions of counseling in the community. At the end of that authorization period if you could still benefit from additional sessions you can typically request additional visits through that same referring provider. Don’t worry—we can help you navigate that process if it’s unfamiliar to you.
How is my information shared?
For active duty service members we are obligated to share certain pieces of information with Tricare and sometimes the military treatment facility (MTF) in order for sessions to be covered.
In order for Tricare to cover services you will need to meet criteria for a mental health diagnosis. This diagnosis gets shared with Tricare so that they can cover services, as they only cover services that are medically necessary.

Can I keep my information private?
Absolutely. If you’d prefer to have your information kept more private you might consider paying privately for sessions instead of using your Tricare benefit. This gives you more control over how your records are shared and documented.
