When you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or just “off,” food might not be the first thing that comes to mind. But what if the fuel you’re giving your body could directly impact how you feel emotionally?
At Freedom Within Center, we understand that mental wellness isn’t just about thoughts and emotions—it’s about the whole person, including what you eat. Working with a nutritionist can be a powerful addition to your mental health journey.
Meet the Dietitian!
Hi! I am Berit Young and I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. I have been providing nutrition counseling for the last 11 years. I enjoy working with adults on helping them find a sustainable lifestyle change while also reaching their goals.
I have experience working with individuals who want to lose weight, decrease their cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar, and get stronger. I also have a driving passion to help individuals find a healthy relationship with food. Eating should be a part of life that energizes you, and help you live the life you love.
You may benefit from nutritional support if you’ve experienced:
Frequent mood swings or irritability
Ongoing fatigue or brain fog
Heightened anxiety or stress levels
Difficulty sleeping or staying asleep
Struggles with focus or concentration
Digestive issues like bloating or discomfort
What you eat can either nourish your body and mind—or drain it. Nutritional imbalances, deficiencies, or even blood sugar fluctuations can all play a role in how you feel day-to-day.
Food is more than fuel—it’s information for your body and brain. Nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids, B vitamins, magnesium, and probiotics have been shown to support mood regulation, reduce anxiety, and enhance cognitive function.
