Lina Hong, ASW

I have extensive experience working in community mental health and working with those dealing with substance use issues. I have lived experience with being an Asian American who identifies with the LGBTQ+ community.

I am passionate about helping people and in therapy, I let clients guide me to their goals. Or if you don’t know your exact goals, that’s okay too! I’m here to be a listening ear as well as to challenge your thoughts. My therapeutic approach is Person Centered and Strengths Based. I often use evidence based approaches including Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Solution Focused Therapy (SFT). I also enjoy using various forms of art such as writing, coloring, drawing, painting, etc., while working with clients.

My Philosophy on Mental Health:
Working on one’s mental health can be difficult and exhausting. However with support and grace, one can work through the various life challenges that they face. I am a huge proponent of meeting the client where they are at, but also challenging clients when they need a little push. I value therapy environments that are safe, respectful, and inviting. Mental health is a lifelong process, but I hope to help you through this season of your life!

More About Me…
In my culture, mental health was/is not spoken about very often. However through my own mental health journey, I’ve found therapy to be an extremely useful tool. Aside from my love of the mental health field, I enjoy diamond painting, building legos, and playing with my two cats (Zoey & Bubba).

Fun Fact!
I really like ax throwing as a hobby!

Lina provides both in person and virtual sessions. She is approved to accept Cigna and TriWest/VA insurances under her licensed supervisor.
