Meet the Therapist!

Hello, my name is Zach Moeller! I am an Associate Clinical Social Worker here at FWC. I enjoy working with lots of different folks, ranging from those dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, substance abuse, transitional issues, and relationship conflicts, to anyone who is thinking “something isn’t right.” I have extensive experience in community mental health, including Assertive Community Treatment and coordinating Peer Support services for the San Diego Mountain Rescue Team (SAR). I also have lived experience as a member of a military-affiliated family, supporting Responders with managing occupational stress, and am comfortable facilitating faith-based therapy as well.

How Can I Help You?

First, kudos to you for taking the first step and exploring your options for therapy! That shows courage to seek help, which is critical for any therapy to “work.” My approach to therapy is focused on connection, not a blank stare sitting across from you. My goal is to co-create a space where you feel comfortable to be your truest self, to laugh, be awkward, and lean into the things that aren’t quite right for you.

I will incorporate several tools that you may be familiar with, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Mindfulness, and the Community Resilience Model.

My Philosophy on Mental Health:

I offer a non-judgemental and client-centered environment, where exploration is welcome and where you feel emboldened to ask the deeper questions. There is a lot of stigma attached to seeking therapy, but I believe we should treat mental health as seriously as we treat chronic pain, medical conditions, or other physical wounds. I have a strong interest in supporting anyone who may be thinking “it doesn’t have to be like this,” and trust that we can figure out the rest together.

More About Me…

I am originally from the Midwest, but found a love for the mountains. If I am not at the office, I am off climbing, running, or surfing. I am a climbing guide with the American Mountain Guides Association, as well as a Rescue member with the San Diego Mountain Rescue Team, an MRA-accredited SAR team.

Fun Fact!

I played Division II rugby in college!
