Meet the Therapist!
Hello, I’m Rachel! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and I have a strong interest in helping young adults and couples, as well as anyone struggling with dating & relationship issues, anxiety, or trauma. In addition, I am happy to provide a Christian perspective for those who are seeking a faith-based therapist.
How Can I Help You?
In our sessions, I will implement a strengths-based approach in helping you identify what is going well, rather than solely focusing on what is wrong. I understand the issues most clients bring into treatment often stem from an earlier time in their lives, and I strive to assist my clients in gaining insight and awareness as the first step towards change. I also understand the importance of working at my client’s pace, and will do my best to provide an environment of safety, curiosity, warmth and humor to help you feel comfortable and at peace, while gently challenging you at times to facilitate growth. I utilize evidenced-based treatment approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused, Motivational Interviewing, Emotionally Focused Therapy, as well as a Client-Centered approach.
My Philosophy on Mental Health:
I believe the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important pieces in your journey towards positive change. It is important you feel we are a “good fit” and feel safe and comfortable with me, as you will be opening up and sharing vulnerable information. I strive to help you build a secure attachment with your loved ones and friends, and much of that work will begin in our therapy sessions together.
More About Me…
I’ve lived in San Diego since February 2020 and have grown quite the community here! Outside of helping my clients, I enjoy hiking, playing beach volleyball with my church family, traveling, discovering new places to eat, and spending time with my Bengal cat Kaia.
My family is spread out over the United States, which gives me an opportunity to travel when visiting them 🙂
