Meet the Therapist!
Hello, my name is Sheena! I am an associate clinical social worker (ACSW/ASW). I have a strong interest in helping those struggling with self-esteem and confidence issues, life transitions, and relationship conflicts.
I have extensive experience working with individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, and grief. I have worked in various settings, such as community mental health agencies and clinics, proving therapy services. As a therapist, I have had the privilege of working with individuals from various cultures and backgrounds. I have lived experience as a first generation Asian-American woman and understand the impact our families and cultures can have on our lives. I believe it is empowering to share one’s story with another, and I am very grateful to have the chance to walk with you on your life journey!

Starting therapy is a huge achievement, but it can also be a little scary! I strive to create a calm, supportive, and safe environment for you in our work together. I believe humor, compassion, and empathy to be essential in creating meaningful change. I have experience using different therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). Together, we can discover which approach would best fit your needs and aid you in living the life you deserve!
I utilize a strength-based and collaborative approach in my work as a therapist. While it can be easy to point out our flaws, I believe it is essential to recognize our worth and inherent value to live a healthy and fulfilled life. As your therapist, I will help you connect with your true authentic self so you can live the life you want to live. I will help you heal parts of yourself that might be abandoned or overlooked, so you can start feeling like your true self. We will work together in helping you treat yourself with the kindness and compassion you deserve. In addition, I am passionate about tailoring my approach to each individual I meet and ensuring you feel heard and safe throughout our time together.
My Philosophy on Mental Health:
I believe each person has the inherent capacity and strength to achieve their goals and live a fulfilled and meaningful life. However, being human can be really hard at times and sometimes we can feel stuck. Therapy can help you feel unstuck in life and learn new ways of coping with hardships and challenges. It can help you discover new patterns and behaviors relating to yourself and the world around you. Overall, therapy can assist you in feeling more confident and more like your true authentic self!

I have recently moved to San Diego and am very excited to explore this beautiful area! I love spending time outdoors, mostly hiking and going to the beach. I am a big foodie and love trying new cuisines and restaurants. Lastly, I love connecting with people and making meaningful relationships with others!
In 2017, I lived in Australia for most of the year!
Sheena provides both in-person and virtual sessions. She is approved to accept Aetna, Cigna/Evernorth and TriWest/VA insurances under her licensed supervisor.
