Kaiser Insurance & Therapy Services
We Work with Kaiser at Freedom Within Center
At Freedom Within Center, we frequently work with Kaiser Permanente (KP) clients through their Community Care Program. This program allows Kaiser members to receive therapy with us once Kaiser authorizes care outside their internal network.
Please note that Kaiser requires authorization before you can begin treatment with a community provider. We encourage you to call Kaiser’s Call Center and request that your therapy be authorized with Freedom Within Therapy and Wellness Center. We are happy to walk you through the process to make it as smooth as possible.
What Your Kaiser Plan May Cover
- Individual Therapy (trauma, EMDR, anxiety, depression, and more)
- Telehealth and in-person sessions
Once authorized, most clients have low or no out-of-pocket costs for therapy.
How to Request Kaiser Community Care
- Call the Kaiser Call Center and explain that you would like to receive therapy through Community Care.
- Specifically request Freedom Within Therapy and Wellness Center as your provider.
- Share why you prefer our care — for example, our trauma-informed approach, EMDR expertise, and personalized attention.
- Provide them our Group NPI: 1548700891
- Kaiser may initially refer you to larger corporate agencies like Lifestance. Politely but firmly insist that you want Freedom Within Therapy and Wellness Center due to our specialty care and clinician consistency.
Once Kaiser approves the authorization, we can begin your sessions right away.
Note: Kaiser does not allow billing for missed appointments or late cancellations, you are directly responsible for any late cancel/no show fees.
Our Rates & Your Out-of-Pocket Costs
If approved through Kaiser Community Care, your sessions are typically fully covered. Some plans may have small copays or visit limits based on the authorization.
If Kaiser denies community care, you may still access services through self-pay or other insurance options.
How is my information shared?
Insurance companies will often require a diagnosis to reimburse for services as they need to deem treatment “medically necessary” in order to pay for the support. This means we will share the diagnosis with the insurance company when we bill for services. You are always welcome to obtain that diagnosis from your therapist by asking.
Kaiser also asks for assessment measures throughout the course of treatment referred to as TPIs. These are simply questionnaires that ask about your symptoms related to mental health. Additionally, they request some session notes.
Can I keep my information private?
Absolutely. If you’d prefer to have your information kept more private you might consider paying privately for sessions instead of using your insurance benefit. This gives you more control over how your records are shared and documented.
