Meet the Therapist!

Hello! My name is Isabella, and I am an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. I am passionate about social justice, holistic health, and living in partnership with one’s body. Most of my clinical experience has focused on relationship concerns, domestic violence, immigrant/refugee experiences, and supporting individuals navigating significant life changes. I have also spent some time working with juvenile justice-involved youth and unhoused women in a shelter setting. I have also worked with individuals whose first or primary language is not English. I enjoy working with trauma/PTSD, anxiety, depression, cultural identity, parent-child concerns, woman’s issues, and life transitions

How Can I Help You?

I don’t take for granted the courage it takes to begin therapy and invite someone into your story. My goal is to create a space that feels warm, safe, and inviting—a place where you can show up authentically, without fear of judgment or pressure to have everything figured out (because really, who does have it ALL figured out?). My hope is that you leave each session feeling more connected to yourself, your values, the life you want to create, and who you want to become.

My therapeutic approach is grounded in Narrative Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. Because I believe therapy is not “one-size-fits-all,” I might integrate other evidence-based practices to best support your individualized goals. Throughout our work together, I remain attentive of the ways that culture, identity, relationships, and larger systems shape your experiences. I also approach therapy through a trauma-informed and harm-reduction lens, meeting you where you are and honoring your pace throughout the entire process.

My Philosophy on Mental Health:

I am guided by Vikki Reynolds (2010) where she explains the fluidity of time

“We visit the traumatic events of the Past from the relative safety of the Present in order to have a preferred Future that has less suffering and is not dictated by violence and trauma.”

I view therapy as a collaborative, relationship-centered process grounded in curiosity, respect, and shared meaning-making. I believe laughter and joy can be just as healing as processing pain, and I welcome both into my practice when appropriate.

More About Me…

I was born and raised in San Diego, California. I later moved to Santa Cruz to continue my education, where I earned a BA in Psychology and Critical Race & Ethnic Studies. I eventually returned to San Diego to pursue a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at San Diego State University.

I love cooking, baking, moving my body (sports, yoga, weightlifting, pilates, hiking, etc.), being outdoors, traveling, and spending intentional time with my loved ones. Listening to live music, reading, and writing bring me joy. I’m an animal lover and spend much of my free time with my soul dog, Angel.

Fun Fact!

While earning my bachelor’s degree, I worked as a campus tour guide. Not only did I master the art of walking uphill backward, but I also developed the confidence, communication, and facilitation skills that continue to serve me in my professional career today.
